ABOUT OUR AWARD-WINNING BAND PROGRAM
- On average, our 8th graders receive roughly $150,000 in music scholarships to the area’s top academic high schools
- Every student in grade 5-8 participates in our band program
- Our five different bands include: Cadet Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band
- In 11 out of 12 years, our Wind Ensemble has received a Superior rating at the Dixie Classic

The music program at Holy Trinity far exceeds the guidelines set forth by the Maryland Department of Education. Any student who experiences the full spectrum of the music program from preschool through eighth grade can expect to be prepared to choose music as a vocation or avocation. Many of our students pursue music as part of their extra-curricular activity.
Our unique music program means all our high school prep students are required to play a musical instrument and be part of one of five different bands: Cadet Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. There is an organic progression in music education as our students transition from grade 5 to grade 8.
Our students learn:
- Characteristics of music such as rhythm and dynamics
- Develop skills for performance and articulation
- Gain the ability to respond to sound
- Acquire competence in reading and notating musical symbols
Our Foundational Music Program Grades 1-4
Beginning in first grade, Holy Trinity students start to develop an appreciation for music through:
- Singing
- Learning developmentally appropriate musical instruments
- Playing games to expand their understanding of style, rhythm and harmony
- Basic musical notation lessons
- Studying prominent composers
- Exposure to music from around the world, music theory and music history
