Middle school grades include students ages 10-15 years old and are some of the most crucial years in the life of a young adolescent. This growth phase includes physical, social, and emotional changes. These are wonderful years full of excitement, energy, great ideas, and change. The change can also be accompanied by forgetfulness, disorganization, and moodiness. These years are truly the roller coaster years for many students.
The Middle School faculty at Holy Trinity is well versed in the needs of the young adolescent as well as being fully prepared in his/her subject area. We have two distinct divisions in the Middle School - a fifth and sixth grade wing, and a seventh and eighth grade wing. The growth and development at these ages is very different. One team of faculty members are trained to work with the pre-adolescent student in the 5/6 grade wing while another team is trained to work with the adolescent student in the 7/8 grade wing. While engaging every student in an academically challenging curriculum, the teachers also "ride the roller coaster" with each student during these tender years.
Our Middle School is an important time for both parents and teachers to understand the challenging emotional and physical changes that each adolescent experiences. Strong study skills and organization skills in the 5/6 division enable each student to be academically independent as they move into the 7/8 grade division. Our 7/8 division emphasizes high school preparation skills where academically challenging courses are taught. Upon graduation from Holy Trinity, each eighth grade student has been able to select the high school of his/her choice.
